Alexandrite 755 nm
The most effective on fair and medium skin with dark hair: the light is absorbed by the melanin in the hair and the skin stays protected by the cooling.
Nd:YAG 1064 nm
It reaches in depth and leaves the skin's melanin almost untouched: the safe choice for olive, dark or tanned skin, and for ingrown hairs.

What about IPL? Intense pulsed light uses a broad spectrum and is not a laser. The laser concentrates energy on a single wavelength, absorbed by the hair, and is the most precise choice for a long-lasting result.
Why several sessions are needed
The laser only acts on hairs in the growth phase, which at any moment are only some of those present. This is why an average of 6–8 sessions are needed, every 4–8 weeks: face and body have different timings because the hair cycle differs. The exact number is defined by the doctor at the consultation.

How to prepare, how to continue
Before
- Shave the area the day before.
- No waxing, tweezers or epilator in the previous 4 weeks.
- No self-tanner in the days before the session.
After
- High sun protection on exposed areas.
- No sauna, steam room or intense sport for 24–48 hours.
When the laser is not indicated
At the consultation the doctor checks that there are no contraindications. The main ones: pregnancy and breastfeeding, medicines that make the skin sensitive to light, active infections or lesions on the area to be treated, tattoos in the area. This is why the first step is always a medical consultation.
